Aalto is one of the superstar modern estates of Ribera del Duero, making this beautiful red exclusively from old vine Tempranillo. Explosive, lush, ripe, sweet dark berry and cocoa fruit with a well-integrated sheen of vanilla oak. This delicious Spanish red rewards early consumption as well as time in bottle.

One of the contemporary stars of Ribera del Duero, Aalto was founded in 1999 by Mariano Garcia, previously winemaker at Vega Sicilia who built a high-spec gravity fed winery with his business partner Javier Zaccagnini an ex-director of Ribera’s Consejo Regulador – a great pedigree. The grapes are from 40-80 year old Tempranillo vines across a range of Ribera del Duero’s best sites. The wine is given around 16 months in 50% new French oak. A very different style to Vega Sicilia – Aalto is all about explosive, lush, ripe, sweet dark berry fruit which rewards early consumption as well as time in bottle.
