Vinca Theresia Rhein Riesling 2023 is an elegant dry white wine made exclusively from 100% Rhein Riesling, grown on the sunlit, south-facing slopes of Carastelec village in the heart of the Crișana (Kőrösvidék) DOC, in north-western Transylvania.
The vines grow in soils composed of clay and mica under the influence of a cool continental climate, where warm days and cool nights ensure gradual ripening and preserve vibrant acidity—an essential trait for this expressive grape variety. The vineyard is managed using a Guyot mid-cordon training system, which provides the grapes with balanced sunlight and allows them to ripen evenly.
Fermented in stainless steel tanks under strict temperature control, Vinca Theresia is vinified in a New World style that highlights freshness, precision, and the pure varietal character of Rhein Riesling. No oak ageing is used, allowing the natural aromatics and acidity of the grape to shine. The result is a wine of striking clarity and finesse.
In the glass, it reveals a pale yellow-green hue with golden reflections. The nose opens with delicate floral notes of honeysuckle, followed by lime zest, ginger, and subtle minerality. The palate is brisk and well-structured, offering layers of white peach, crisp pears, citrus peel, honeyed undertones, and hints of fresh herbs.
Its racy acidity and clean finish make it both refreshing and gastronomic. With 11.5% abv and just 3.27 g/L of Residual Sugar, it pairs beautifully with richly spiced dishes, including Thai or Chinese cuisine, as well as spiced duck leg, soft-ripened cow's milk cheese, and roasted vegetables.
