Château de Beaucastel, guided by the Perrin family for over a century, stands as one of the most celebrated names in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. With roots tracing back to the 16th century, the estate has long been a benchmark for Rhône excellence. Coudoulet de Beaucastel, often referred to as "Baby Beaucastel," is sourced from 30 hectares of organically farmed vineyards located just outside the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
The vineyards of Coudoulet lie on the eastern side of the Beaucastel estate, just beyond the official Châteauneuf-du-Pape boundary. The soil is composed of molasse seabed from the Miocene period, covered by diluvial alpine deposits—most notably the large, rounded stones known as galets roulés. These pebbles absorb heat during the day and release it at night, aiding ripening and contributing to the wine's depth and complexity.
Coudoulet has been cultivated using organic viticulture since 1950, with a deep respect for the land and its natural rhythms. This hands-on, sustainable approach ensures healthy vines and fruit that genuinely reflect the character of the Rhône terroir.
The blend of Grenache (40%), Mourvèdre (30%), Syrah (20%), and Cinsault (10%) is hand-harvested, vinified variety by variety, then matured in oak foudres to preserve depth and finesse. This wine presents a vibrant profile of juicy red and dark fruits layered with wild herbs, sweet spice, and floral notes. Silky tannins and a medium to full body provide structure and poise, leading to a long, elegant finish.
A Rhône red that captures the spirit of its prestigious origins, perfect alongside braised or seared meats.
