Thessaly, known for its tsipouro – a grape marc spirit - and Tirnavos, the hometown of this prestigious spirit has been at the centre of tsipouro production for generations. Since 2000, the Vasdavano winery has been producing their Dekaraki Muscat tsipouro of Tirnavos. It is the first single-varietal tsipouro distilled only from the renowned Tyrnavos Muscat variety, which is ideally suited to the climate and soil of the area, developing its unique aromatic character. Damasi village of Tirnavos, where Dekaraki Muscat Tsipouro of Tirnavos is cultivated, is home to one of the most famous vineyard areas of Muscat in Thessaly. Muscat is a red grape variety and harvested from around mid-September onwards. Today, the designation “Tsipouro of Tirnavos” is a recognized and Protected Geographical Indication in Europe. This single-varietal spirit is produced without aniseed, distilled in traditional copper stills with an alcoholic strength of 40% Vol. On the palate and nose, enjoy Intense, warm, rich aromas reminiscent of fig, raisin, walnut, pear, bergamot, rose and clove. A balanced, complex distillate with a long aftertaste. Best enjoyed served cool as an aperitif accompanying delicious Greek mezedes.
