From the cool, rolling hills of Štajerska in Slovenia, this expressive skin-contact wine is a blend of Gelber Muskateller and Traminec, grown on marl, sand, and clay soils at 380 meters above sea level. Crafted by Izidor Vehovar—third-generation vintner behind the Dorcha label—this wine reflects a shift toward thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking that honours both tradition and innovation. Influenced by his neighbour Nick Gee of Heaps Good Wine Co., Izidor embraces spontaneous fermentation, native yeasts, and sustainable vineyard practices without irrigation or herbicides.
Fermented on skins for three weeks, the wine delivers striking aromatics of orange pith, dried mango, and wild herbs, underpinned by savoury spice and floral lift. The palate is textured yet bright, offering juicy citrus fruit, gentle tannins, and zesty acidity that carries through a long, structured finish. The extended maceration brings weight and presence without overwhelming the elegance of the varietals.
A true reflection of Štajerska’s potential for aromatic, terroir-driven wines, this orange cuvée is both energetic and refined. Perfect alongside spiced dishes like biryani, roasted root vegetables, or aged cheeses that echo its complexity and warmth.
