Foursquare Convocation Exceptional Cask Selection is a premium Barbados rum from the renowned Foursquare Rum Distillery. Crafted using pot and column stills, it is matured in a 14-year bourbon cask, a 14-year Madeira cask, and a dual-matured rum aged 10 years in bourbon and 4 in Madeira casks. Bottled at 62% ABV, it features rich vanilla, caramel, dried fruits, and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. No additives ensure purity.

Challenge 21 - You must be 18 or over to buy alcohol. You must not buy alcohol on behalf of those under 18. We apply the "Challenge 21" policy to all delivery and collection orders. We will not supply if the person receiving or collecting orders appears under the age of 21.

We charge a flat fee of £5.95 for delivery if your order is under 20kg, and £10 inc VAT if it is over 20kg. Free delivery is available for orders above £120 (inc VAT).

For Standard Delivery, we will ship items within 2 working days, provided the order is placed before midday.

For Express Delivery, we will ship items the same day, provided the order is placed before midday.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipment confirmation email, and the following day, you will receive a text from our courier with a delivery window. If your order has not yet arrived, please email [email protected] and quote your order number.

Keep an eye out for your shipment confirmation email; once you get it, your order will be delivered the next day.

Description

Foursquare Rum Distillery, located in St. Philip, Barbados, is a modern yet deeply traditional rum producer with roots dating back to the 1820s through the Seale family. Officially established as Foursquare in 1996 on the site of a historic sugar plantation active since the 17th century, the distillery has become renowned worldwide for its commitment to quality, innovation, and heritage.

Richard Seale, a fourth-generation rum maker and master blender, leads the distillery, emphasising time-honoured methods alongside innovative techniques to perfect rum production. Foursquare produces a blend of pot and column still rums, resulting in a rich, smooth style with complex aromatic profiles. The distillery employs a specially controlled two-step fermentation process, utilising yeast imported from South Africa and molasses sourced primarily from Guyana. The wash is blended over a 20-hour period to generate a distinctive, fragrant spirit.

A hallmark of Foursquare's production is ageing rums in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, which impart smoothness and vanilla sweetness. The Exceptional Cask Selection series, including the Convocation release, takes maturation further by finishing rums in a variety of rare casks like Sherry, Port, Madeira, and Zinfandel barrels, adding complexity and unique flavour dimensions. No additives, sweeteners, or colourants are used, preserving natural purity and terroir expression in their rums. The climate of Barbados, with warm temperatures and oceanic influences, combined with rigorous craftsmanship, creates rums prized for their balance, intensity, and finesse.

Tasting Notes

The Convocation rum stands out with rich notes of vanilla, caramel, dried fruits, and sweet spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon. The palate reveals honeyed sweetness, oak undertones, tropical fruit layers, and subtle influences from the finishing casks, culminating in a long, smooth finish with lingering spice and fruit complexity.
