Idiom is a premium South African wine producer, situated on the foothills of impressive granite mountains over looking False Bay. It is a complete family affair with everything down to the design of the labels being created by members of the family.
Idiom's vineyards are located on the foothills of impressive granite mountains over looking False Bay. The vineyards are at 200-350m above sea level and the soils are composed of decomposed granite, which is relatively shallow in places and very stony, on top of a clay base.
Grape Varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon; 40% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot.
Tasting Note: A full bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It is very expressive on the nose with sour blueberry and cherry aromas competing well with blackcurrant leaf and soft smoke. On the palate there are good firm tannins with lots of restrained red and black fruit with hints of vanilla, spice and dark roasted coffee. A succulent wine with a long finish.
Awards: John Platter - 4 stars.
