II Poggio is a family run sustainably focused winery in the heart of Gavi DOCG, a tranquil and harmonious environment on the magical Rovereto hill, located in the Piedmont region in the north of Italy. The proximity to the Ligurian sea offers a slight salty breeze.
Nuvole Sul Poggio is a single south-eastern vineyard with a stunning view overlooking Novi Ligure trained using the Guyot technique. Nuvole Sul Poggio Gavi 2021 is made from 100% Cortese hand harvested from 20-year-old vines on clay and marl soils planted over 300m altitude and is aged and fermented in stainless steels vats for up to 10 days.
Nuvole means ‘clouds’ in Italian which are low lying on top of the small hill which the winery sits on, crisp, clear and pure. This is a dry white wine offering green and citrus flavours of sage, marjoram, grapefruit, bergamot along with yellow exotic fruit.
This is a youthful wine to be enjoyed in the summer perfect with salads, fish, vegetables or even as alone as an aperitif with olives and nuts.
