Kadoo Rum is inspired by the traditional Barbados sugarcane harvest festival, or ‘Grand Kadooment’, one of the world’s longest-running carnivals with a history dating back to the seventeenth century. It goes without saying that this merrymaking, including the crowning of the ‘King and Queen of the Crop’, is washed down with copious amounts of the local speciality – rum produced from the fruits of the sugar cane. Kadoo’s range of rums pays tribute to this proud tradition while also looking forward to the future.
Kadoo Carnival Spiced is a beautifully rich spiced rum crafted with a unique blend of some of the world’s finest ingredients. Ginger and cinnamon are subtly layered with the rum’s own characterful, citrus-forward flavours, including orange peel, ripe banana and molasses. This will shine in a classic rum cocktail. The producers recommend a Spiced Planter’s Punch: mix a double measure of Kadoo Carnival Spiced Rum with fresh tropical fruit juice of your choice, grenadine and soda water before adding ice and garnishing with a Luxardo maraschino cherry and an orange slice. Or, try in a Spiced Boulevardier, a Caribbean twist on the classic Negroni: over an ice cube, stir together two parts rum with an equal measure of vermouth (a dry style, such as that offered by Dolin, is best) and one part Campari or similar amaro, before garnishing with a lemon twist.
