Château du Breuil, spirits producer since 1954, has created the first French single malt made 100% from Golden Promise barley, known for producing whiskies with intensity, length and smoothness in the mouth. By selecting this particular variety, Château du Breuil has chosen quality over quantity. Golden Promise has a low yield per hectare (1/3 less than modern varieties and in pure alcohol 10% less). It is a rare and high quality barley, which the producer respects throughout the malting and kilning process ensuring great flavours from this cereal. The wort is first fermented and then distilled at the Château undergoing a double distillation in pot still. The young whisky is then aged and matured in the temperate Normandy climate in a mixture of 250ltr Oloroso sherry and American Oak casks. Le Breuil Oloroso Finish is of copper-amber appearance. On the nose, youthful fresh notes of malt, yeast, walnut, plum, hazelnut & liquorice with hints of vanilla oak spice coming through on the palate in addition to fig, kirsch and orange zest.
