Whalehaven Shale Summit Pinot Noir is made in the Hemel-en-Aarde district of the Cape, one of the coolest and one of the country's most sought-after wine regions. Delicious plump yet fine raspberry and cherry fruit; medium bodied with subtle hints of spice and sous bois, silky tannins.

Founded in 1995 by the Bottega family who also own Stellenbosch winery Idiom. Whalehaven is the third oldest wine estate in the Hemel-en-Aarde, after Hamilton Russell and Bouchard Finlayson. This is a cool climate district of the Cape, channelling the maritime air up from False Bay and is now one of the country's most sought-after wine regions, where much of South Africa's best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is grown. Recent investments in the vineyard and winery has seen Whalehaven achieve a rapid ascent to sit alongside the region’s finest wines, further consolidated by the appointment of celebrated winemaker Richard Kershaw MW. The Terroir series expresses the nuances of the vineyard, while the Reserve range is a selection of the very best barrels in the cellar, from the best sectors of vineyard.
From a granite and gravel soiled vineyard, barrel-aged for 12 months. Delicious plump yet fine raspberry and cherry fruit; medium bodied with subtle hints of spice and sous bois, silky tannins. Great value for Pinot of this quality.
