Independent bottler LIMITED presents Ben Nevis 22yr 2000 (cask #1002), a single malt Scotch whisky from the Highlands, distilled in 2000 and aged 22 years in a bourbon hogshead. Bottled at 46.2% ABV, it shows a pale gold colour with notes of poached pear, honey, and malt loaf. The palate offers notes of wood spice, anise, and a hint of cayenne pepper, framed by lingering fruit and spice characteristics. This limited release of 211 bottles showcases the rich, robust character typical of Ben Nevis whisky.

Ben Nevis Distillery, founded in 1825 by John "Long John" MacDonald, is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland, located at the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, near Fort William in the Highlands. Nestled in a region noted for its pristine natural resources, Ben Nevis sources water from the Allt a’Mhuilinn stream, fed by mountain pools, contributing to the whisky’s pure and distinct character. The Highland climate—cool and temperate with high rainfall—combined with mineral-rich soils supports the growth of quality barley, an essential element in the distillery’s malt whisky production.
Known for its traditional production methods, Ben Nevis uses wooden wash backs and brewer’s yeast during fermentation, a rare practice among distilleries today, which lends a rich, textured profile to the spirit. Distillation is slow and steady through classic pot stills, producing a deep and chewy whisky that matures exceptionally well in mainly ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks.
