Stag's Leap is one of California's most legendary wineries. The Artemis Cabernet is their blended red from a range of vineyards across the Napa Valley. Bold aromas of dark cherry and vanilla, leading to a velvety palate of blackberry and cocoa with supple tannins and an elegant finish.

Warren Winiarski gave an up a promising academic career in Chicago to pursue his dream of making wine. He learnt his trade at Robert Mondavi before setting up Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in the heart of the Napa Valley in 1972. Success was instantaneous when the 1973 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon took first place over leading red Bordeaux at a major comparative tasting in Paris in 1976.
Artemis, named after the Greek goddess of the hunt, represents the estate's meticulous search for the finest grapes across Napa Valley to create a definitive, valley-wide blend.
While their single-vineyard bottlings focus on isolated terroir, Artemis is a masterclass in blending. The winemaking team selects fruit from premium high-elevation and cooler sites - such as Atlas Peak and Coombsville - to ensure the wine retains bright acidity and structure alongside its natural Californian richness. Aged in a measured proportion of new and older French oak, the powerful tannins of the region are polished into a refined, velvety texture.
