Walgate Pinot Noir 2022 is made by talented winemaker Ben Walgate. Partial whole bunches fermented in concrete and stainless steel and partially aged in oak. Smooth, with plum and strawberry, notes of spice, juicy palate and a hint of tannin.

Challenge 21 - You must be 18 or over to buy alcohol. You must not buy alcohol on behalf of those under 18. We apply the "Challenge 21" policy to all delivery and collection orders. We will not supply if the person receiving or collecting orders appears under the age of 21.

We charge a flat fee of £5.95 for delivery if your order is under 20kg, and £10 inc VAT if it is over 20kg. Free delivery is available for orders above £120 (inc VAT).

For Standard Delivery, we will ship items within 2 working days, provided the order is placed before midday.

For Express Delivery, we will ship items the same day, provided the order is placed before midday.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipment confirmation email, and the following day, you will receive a text from our courier with a delivery window. If your order has not yet arrived, please email [email protected] and quote your order number.

Keep an eye out for your shipment confirmation email; once you get it, your order will be delivered the next day.

You have the right to cancel your order at any time without being charged for the goods ordered within 14 days of purchase.

If you call us after your item has shipped, we will be unable to cancel it and you will need to return to us.

Description

Ben Walgate co-founded Tillingham , an innovative, biodynamic, pioneering English winery set up in 2017.

Ben then started his own project in 2023 called Walgate wines, based on regenerative farming, qvevri winemaking, biodynamic principles and low intervention.

The ethos of Walgate is to make wines with a positive presence, not solely on an environmental level, but also in terms of cultural, social and economic impact. This is manifested in choices not only surrounding farming and wine production but also how the business operates.

The grapes for Walgate Pinot noir 2022 are sourced from clay soils vineyards using sustainable viticulture in Crouch Valley, Essex, overlooking Felixstowe, Suffolk.

Starting with a layer of whole bunches, then topped with whole berries and finally crushed berries, once the concrete and steel vats are filled, they are sealed up and left for three weeks. After three weeks all the vats are emptied and for this cuvée the wine is primarily aged further in concrete and some barrels.

Dark cherry red, generous, verging on plump. Smooth with plum and strawberry, notes of spice with a juicy palate and just a hint of tannin.
