From the first vines planted in 1849, Yalumba has been at the forefront of every turning point in Australian wine history, helping to forge Australia’s enviable wine culture from table wines to those that sit proudly amongst the finest wines of the world. With ancient vines sustained by the world’s oldest soils and enriched by the craftsmanship of generations, Yalumba is writing the next chapter in Australia’s fine wine story — a future for the wine world that thrives with authenticity, diversity, and distinction.
Yalumba has been a pioneer in growing and producing Viognier in Australia since the first vineyard plantings in the Eden Valley in 1980. The grapes are sourced from seven separate blocks across five different vineyards, carefully blended to create the final wine. Fermented and matured for 10 months in older French oak puncheons and barriques, this wine showcases Yalumba’s dedication to the varietal.
Pure aromas reminiscent of fresh apricots, lifted ginger and fresh white flowers. The palate is long and silky, with stone fruit flavours, a hint of exotic saffron and finishing with an alluring freshness. A wonderful food wine. Try it with Moroccan tajine and spiced cous cous; pork dumplings with ginger and chilli oil dipping sauce; roasted cauliflower with sunflower seeds and buckwheat; or baba ghanoush.
