At a Glance

Champagne Egly-Ouriet is a renowned grower estate located in the Montagne de Reims, with a viticultural history dating back to the late 18th century. Since taking over in 1982, Francis Egly has transformed the domaine into one of the most respected names in Champagne, returning the focus to 100% estate bottling and placing quality at the forefront of every decision. In 2008, the estate introduced two Coquard presses to enhance control over juice extraction, a move that further elevated the precision and expression of their wines. Today, Francis is joined by his children, Clémence and Charles, who manage exports and vineyard operations respectively, ensuring the continuity of the family’s dedication to excellence.

The estate spans 21 hectares, with 10 hectares located in the Grand Cru villages of Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzenay. The remaining holdings are in Premier Cru sites such as Vrigny, Bisseuil, and Trigny. The vineyards are cultivated with a focus on sustainability, incorporating biodynamic principles that aim to preserve soil vitality, improve vine health, and reflect the character of each terroir in the final wine.

The Grand Cru Brut is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, all sourced from the Grand Cru villages of Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzenay. Egly-Ouriet employs natural yeast fermentations and a minimal intervention approach in the cellar, allowing the inherent qualities of the grapes and the distinct terroir to shine through. Fermentation takes place in oak, and the wine is aged extensively on its lees to build texture and complexity.

On the nose, the wine displays plush ripe fruit with notes of vanilla, floral hints and delicate toasty undertones. The palate is broad and expressive, with a generous fruit profile, fine mousse and a smooth, rounded texture. There is a clear sense of depth and precision, balanced by a fresh, underlying structure that gives the wine its signature elegance.

This Champagne is well suited to pairing with roast poultry or creamy seasonal dishes that highlight its richness and finesse. Awarded 92+ points by William Kelley of the Wine Advocate, this is a striking example of grower Champagne from one of the region’s most exacting producers.
