Jim Beam is one of Kentucky’s leading bourbon distilleries, bottling whiskies under the Booker’s and Basil Hayden brands as well as its own iconic label. Present in bars worldwide, Jim Beam has become a reference for bourbon whiskey due to its smoothness, slight sweetness and vanilla finish. The current master distiller, Fred Noe, is a descendant of the distillery’s original eighteenth-century founder.
The Black expression undergoes an additional period of maturation, and is barrel-aged for six years – three times the legal minimum for straight bourbon whiskey. This imparts additional oaky, vanilla flavours to a smooth and fruity spirit base. Furthermore, the slightly higher proof than the classic white label Jim Beam ensures that the whisky’s flavours are carried further. This shines in an Old Fashioned – combine the whiskey with sugar syrup, bitters, an orange twist and serve over a large block of ice. Alternatively, shake with lemon juice, sugar syrup and an egg white for a whiskey sour, or simply sip on the rocks.
