Established in 1999, Matetic Vineyards are Chile’s leading biodynamic winery, located between the coastal valleys of Casablanca and San Antonio, the Rosario Valley has ideal conditions for cultivating red and white grape growing grapes. Spread out between the Pacific Ocean and the hills of the Coastal Mountains, the valley is completely enclosed and perpendicular to the sea. The proximity of the ocean favours the vineyards, with cool nights, morning fog, and coastal breezes in the afternoons that together allow the grapes to ripen slowly, producing healthy fruit that in turn make wines with fresh acidity and intense flavours. The granitic soils are rich in quartz and low in nutrients, allowing for good root exploration and excellent drainage.
The Riesling is made from Casablanca Valley fruit, with a little skin contact prior to fermentation in stainless steel and sporadic gentle lees stirring. A lively tangy dry white with an explosion of tangerine, lime and apple overlaid with a subtle hint of petrol
