Founded in 1670, Warre’s is the first and the oldest British Port company established in Portugal. The name Warre’s is synonymous with the history of Port and it was a pioneer of the Port trade.
For more than three hundred years the company has produced some of the greatest Ports ever made. Warre’s Vintage Ports are peerless in their expression of poise and elegance.
Whereas some other Vintage Ports can be almost overwhelming in their richness, Warre’s Vintage wines combine elegance, length and balance whilst still retaining the underlying rich opulence of great Vintage Port.
Tasting Notes: Warre’s 2000 Vintage has a dark ruby colour. On the nose, appealing floral aromas of violets and mint combine with layer upon layer of ripe blackberry fruit.
On the palate great freshness and the archetypal Warre elegance with vibrant fruit flavours and velvety tannins lead to a long and persistent finish.
Food Match: Enjoy this Port with blue Stilton, blue veined French cheese or a treacle tart.
Reviews: 18 Jancis Robinson
91 Robert Parker: Straightforward yet intense, ripe black raspberry liqueur and cassis scents are followed by a medium to full-bodied, elegant, restrained, balanced port with moderately high tannin as well as outstanding purity. It is a vintage port with impeccable finesse.
91 Wine Spectator: Lovely floral aromas of berries, violets and minerals. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a racy finish. A harmonious yet well-toned Warre. Reminds me of the 1991. Best after 2010. 9,000 cases made.
Closure: Natural Cork
