Sullivans Cove French Oak Ex Tawny Single Cask TD216 Whisky 70cl

Sullivans Cove French Oak Single Tawny Cask Tasmanian single malt whisky is aged in 300L French oak casks previously used to mature Australian tawny port-style fortified wine, this whisky has rich flavours of Christmas spice, chocolate, dried fruit and complex oak.  As a single cask bottling, every tiny batch is different, expressing the unique characteristics of each barrel.

Aged for thirteen years in a 300 litre, French oak ex-Tawny cask, TD0216 is a classic example of the Sullivans Cove French oak ex-Tawny style. Bottled unflocked and unfiltered at 47.6% abv this cask produced a mere 293 bottles.

Nose: This smells like an old Aussie French Oak Tawny cask! Gingerbread, walnuts and pistachios. Grain: Weetbix, dry barley, dusty sweet earthiness… Popcorn. The grains lead into burnt butter, which then turns to a lovely tropical character.  There's baking apricots, prunes, glacé cherries and white pepper.

Palate: Silky texture and a lot of yummy juicy fruits. Mandarin, peaches and cranberries all culminate in the glorious childhood memory of fruit winders. Prunes and a lot of cocoa further develop into white chocolate, macadamia and glazed pastry. Structurally excellent and typically French Oak: a tight, yet gentle and balanced grip.
