Located on the boundary of the prestigious Margaux appellation on the highest point of Macau, Cru Bourgeois Cambon La Pelouse counts world-famous estates such as Giscours, La Lagune and Château du Tertre among its close neighbours. The property has been shipping its wine to the UK since the 17th century and owes much of its reputation to its success among the British wine trade. Undeniably one of the best wines in the Médoc, the style and quality of Cambon La Pelouse is now enjoying the international success it deserves. Cabernet Sauvignon 50% - Merlot 46% Petit Verdot 4%, grown on gravel soils from 35 year old vines on average. Vinification is in 32 temperature-controlled tanks so that individual parcels can be selected and monitored. A cold soak for 4 to 6 days before fermentation, which takes up to a month, followed by 12 to 15 months ageing on fine lees in 35% new oka barrels - 50% one-year barrels and the rest old. A delicious, polished claret with excellent presence and concentration; compact cassis and blackberry fruits, hints of fresh coffee-bean and plum, well integrated oak and ripe, satisfying tannins. Delicious now, will improve over the next 5 years.
