Domaine Joseph Pascal, established in the 1950s by Jean Pascal, is situated in the esteemed village of Puligny-Montrachet. The estate spans 15 hectares across Burgundy's Côte d'Or, encompassing vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Auxey-Duresses, and Volnay, under the stewardship of Alexandra Pascal, the fourth generation. The domaine practices sustainable viticulture with minimal intervention during winemaking. All wines are barrel-fermented, with casks sourced from four local tonnelleries: Berthomieu, Montgillet, Meyrieux, and Rousseau.
The 2022 vintage presents a golden straw-yellow hue, indicative of its Chardonnay heritage. The nose is expressive, offering aromas of ripe peach, acacia flower, and citrus zest. On the palate, the wine is fresh and mineral, with a well-balanced structure and a fine acidic 'bite' that adds to its vibrancy. A subtle touch of oak imparts depth without overshadowing the fruit, leading to a clean, slightly tangy finish.
This Chardonnay is versatile in its pairings. It complements seafood dishes such as scallops, oysters, and mussels, as well as grilled white fish. The wine's acidity and minerality also make it an excellent match for cheese-based dishes like Comté or Brie. For a delightful pairing, consider serving it with creamy pasta or a delicate poultry dish.
