Meet The Team
Jack Merrill - Assistant Manager
I'm Jack Merrill and have been working for Amathus for a while now, you may recognise me from the Shoreditch Shop!
I've been loving the range Amathus has, and hope that I can help you find your perfect booze.
I have worked in the trade for six years now, my background has been mainly in spirits, Whisky more specifically.
I worked at the Whisky Shop where I picked up my love of all things Scotch and later Majestic, which gave me an appreciation of wine.
I have recently been getting into Mezcal and Gin of which Amathus has an amazing range. But fear not, for I am also loving our Craft Beer range, in particular the Beavertown's and Coedo's.
I am very fond of wines from both Beaujolais and Côtes du Rhône, so hopefully I can find a wine for you too!
Lucy Hillier - Store Manager
My Name is Lucy Hillier, I am the store manager here at Amathus Soho, I previously managed the Shoreditch branch on Old Street and before that I managed a number of stores for Oddbins Wine Merchants. My background is in wine, I fell in love with it backpacking Australasia and have been lucky enough to visit many wine regions I am currently studying towards Level 4 WSET Diploma in Wine and Spirits. I moved to Amathus to explore the world of spirits and my gosh there are allot of them! If you are on a discovery to learn more about wine, beer or spirits please come and have a chat with us, share your knowledge, we are learning too!
Best thing about this shop? We always have something open; from the four whites & four reds in the Enomatic machine, to our favourite Gins, Rums & Bourbons always available for sampling. I love it!

Tramontane Côtes Catalanes Macabeu 2015
A light, crisp style. Early picking ensures crisp acidity and citrus notes, whilst the warm climate gives some weight in the mid-palate.
Penley Heritage Genevieve Chardonnay 2016
This chardonnay is very delicate and flavoursome on the palate with notes of white peach, fig and cashew nuts on the nose.
Subtle savoury French oak underpins a core of juicy fruit while the citrus acidity adds freshness and gives it a lift.
A flavoursome Chardonnay that will complement food and conversation.
Tsiakkas Xynisteri 2016
Fresh kick of grapefruit and lime with lingering peach on the finish. No late frosts or rain in the early autumn occur so the conditions are ideal for grapes.
Production per acre is very small, and vines are on average 50 years old. The wine is stainless steel fermented and bottled fresh to retain its citrus aromas, medium body and long after-taste.
Domaine Champeau Pouilly Fume 2016
Pale gold with greenish tints. Pure, focused fruity nose with subtle mineral notes.
Fairly fleshy on the palate, intensely fruity, fresh and harmonious. A good wine to drink in its youth with freshwater fish.
Georges Michel La Reserve Pinot Noir 2012
Deep aromas of mushrooms, undergrowth and rich spices blending well with stewed plums and sharp redcurrants. Fantastic complexity of aromas continuing onto the palate where sour cherries and savoury flavours dominate. Great acid and firm tannins.
Anané Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2015
This wine displays an intense nose of ripe fruit like strawberries and plums, with final touches of sweet spices.In mouth this wine is fruity, sophisticated and rich, with blackberry and juicy plum.
Fess Parker Clone 115 Pinot Noir 2012
Amasculine, darker-styled and earthy Pinot, the 2012 Pinot Noir Clone 115 saw 25% whole cluster inclusion during fermentation and was aged in 33% new French oak barrels. It gives up loads of pepper, underbrush and crushed rock to go with darker berry-styled fruit.It should drink nicely for 7-8 years.
Veedha Tinto 2015
A blend of Touriga National, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz sourced from the higher altitude Quinta do Arnozelo in the Douro Superior. The nose is very fragrant with ripe blackberry fruit, vanilla, honeysuckle and dark chocolate aromas.
Aged in new 225 liter French and Hungarian oak barrels, this elegant, fresh, clean red is medium bodied, well balanced and quite charming with very good length.
