Boekenhoutskloof Semillon is an iconic South African white. Mainly from an old 1902 vineyard, with 40% spicy Semillon Gris, and aged in barrel & concrete egg, it's a rich, textured dry wine of the highest quality.
Established in 1776, Boekenhoutskloof is one of South Africa's finest wineries, making a top class range under the inspirational Marc Kent. Their Semillon is an impressive white wine, with the stamp of Franschhoek on it. Made first from a very old vineyard planted in 1902, giving depth and intensity, fruit from vineyards planted in 1936 and 1942 has subsequently been added through the vintages. The 1936 vineyard is distinctive in having a high proportion of a pink-skinned mutation of Semillon particular to Franchhoek - Semillon Gris - which adds a spicy layer. With barrel and concrete egg maturation adding subtle oak complexity, this wine can age magnificently for a decade or more.
