Baron Phillipe purchased the fifth growth Château Clerc Milon in 1970 and resurrected it from a run down and neglected estate to the high quality producer it’s now considered to be. Sitting in the North-east of the Pauillac appellation, next door to Lafite and Mouton Rothschild, the 50 hectares of vineyards sit on a gentle slope aiding perfect drainage and exposure to sunlight. The vines have an average age of 50 years consist of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, with the addition of Merlot, Cabernet Franc as well as a sprinkle of Carmenere. “This is very classic for the appellation with as much smoky and earthy character as ripe cassis. Good concentration and a stunning balance of ripe fruit, fine tannins and a long elegant finish. Drink or hold.” 94 Pts Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com, March 2019.
