Cuvée Jean-Baptiste is a selection of the very best barrels of Merlot at the leading winery Château du Courlat in Lussac St. Emilion. A fabulously rich, soft red bursting with ripe dark, cherry, blackberry and cedar flavours and velvety tannins
Lussac St Emilion lies to the North of St Emilion itself and can offer a great value alternative to St Emilion proper. Chateau du Courlat is a medium-sized property owned by the negociant JB Audy, and the Cuvée Jean-Baptiste is their top wine; a selection of the best parcels of Merlot in a particular vintage, with a greater proportion of new oak than the regular wine.
The 2016 is a plump, juicy red from a great vintage, packed with dark plum and cherry with soft, ripe tannins and sheen of well-handled oak, delivering serious quality for the price.
